This is one of my favorites in the film. It’s one of the very first major set pieces that I created for the film. The organ is remixed from 3 images of organs and took many hours and hours to refine, particularly as I refined my photoshopping skills with it. It’s where the idea that this might be a concert film began as I kept imagining the two parts arriving from separate directions–the keyboard rises up from a trap door in the stage and lifting Gaga up to meet the back of the organ descending from the fly system above. And when the song ends, the pieces would split back to where they came from, taking Gaga below the stage and revealing a screen with a video of the next number. I did use a digital stand in of gaga while creating the organ and exploring how the above sequences would work.
The effects are created with simple key framing, but working to make sure the two parts and Gaga lined up in a gorgeous and realistic manner.
