In October/November 2014, I took my voice teacher’s (composer Andrew Abrams) Acting Through Song Workshop for a second time. This time, my focus was on contemporary musical theatre songs, which I needed more of for my audition book. One of those songs was “Wrestling” from But I’m A Cheerleader, for which Andy wrote the music. It’s a great song, and it’s been a exhilarating experience. Our final class was a presentation before casting director, Rachel Hoffman from Telsey & Co.; Broadway composer, orchestrator and arranger, Lynne Shankel; and agent, Chad Pisetsky.
Andy is not only excellent at teaching vocal technique, but he truly does a fantastic job of helping actors connect to the text, creating meaningful performances.
